Since April 2019 till March 2020, the Caucasus Institute has implemented a project called Building Capacity for Societal Engagement in Nagorno-Karabakh in partnership with Armavir Development Centre, Civil Society Institute and INTRA Mental Health Centre.
In the framework of the project the following activities have been implemented:

TRAINING “PEACE OR WAR: CAN I MAKE A DIFFERENCE?” AND TEA PARTIES ON THE ”PHENOMENON OF NON-RECOGNITION: ARE UNRECOGNIZED STATES REAL STATES?,” “DEMOCRACY, DEMOCRATIZATION AND ELECTIONS” AND “REVOLUTIONS IN THE POST-SOVIET SPACE” WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF YOUNG CIVIL SERVANTS, CIVIL SOCIETY ACTORS AND JOURNALISTS IN NAGORNO-KARABAKH
- BLOG POSTS WRITTEN BY CIVIL SERVANTS AND CIVIC ACTIVISTS
- TRAININGS FOR PSYCHOLOGISTS AND SOCIAL, HEALTH WORKERS, EDUCATORS AND CIVIC ACTIVISTS IN STEPANAKERT AND SUCH COMMUNITIES, AS ASKERAN, TOGH, MATAGHIS, GISHI, BERDASHEN, MARTAKERT, GROUP AND INDIVIDUAL THERAPIES FOR THEIR RESIDENTS
- TRAININGS ON SOCIAL NEEDS AND IMPLEMENTATION OF INITIATIVES RELATED TO COMMUNITY SERVICE DELIVERY IN ASKERAN, TOGH, MATAGHIS, BERDASHEN
A beauty parlour has been opened, renovation of a bathroom and toilet in a b&b has been arranged in Togh, conditions in Askeran’s kindergarten have been improved, the local house of culture in Askeran has been equiped with sound speakers and microphone, a tailor service has been set up in Berdashen, and a study trip to Goris has been arranged for residents from the communities to attend trainings on carpet weaving and matting, etc.
A database of psychologists, social and health workers in Nagorno-Karabakh has been created, and around 8 social initiatives have been implemented in the communities of Askeran, Togh, Berdashen, etc.
